Upper plots (BRIN, LIBR and LIRE) refer to radio-soundings, whereas the lower plots (NOAA1, NOAA2 and ERAI) refer to data Reanalysis. The extent of the area within the 5 % probability contour is 993, 955, 991, 966, 962 and 972 km2, respectively, for the BRIN, LIBR, LIRE, NOAA1, NOAA2 and ERAI dataset (see also Fig. 7). In the background are reported the “Red Zone” (hazard from pyroclastic flows and lahars) and the “Yellow Zone” (hazard from ash fallout) of the actual Emergency Plan of Vesuvius (DPC 2015; Regione Campania 2015)
